Teaching Practicum II is done.

Third Practice/ third period

To be enthusiastic is one of the most important things to motivate students. My lesson plan for this  third practice contained a very nice warm-up to start the class;however, I saw a few motivation in the students`performance, so I decided  to motivate them  by smiling, increasing my participation in the warm-up and telling some cheering phrases  such as: you can do it, go ahead, etc. As soon as I said  and did those things, the students were faster in working  for the rest of the class. After the warm-up, I continued with the presentation of the topic and with the grammar explanation  about  modals, in this part I tried to  explained the rules in a very easy way in order to make students to  understand  faster.Later , I finished with some practices about it, at the end of the class, I thanked them for  being nice students and for having given me the chance to put into practice  what I have learned from my masters.

I confirmed my feelings about motivation in class when   my tutor told me that she  liked the enthusiasm i  had.

I had  a nice teaching experience.

Second Teaching practice/ third period

To begin a class early in the morning is challenging.
Almost always students are kind of  sleeppy before begining the class ,so I started the class with a warm-up in which they had to stand up and move to the right if  I had to say " ways to the right" or they had to move to the left if I had to  say "ways to the  left", but when I  had to say "storm" they had to  move anywhere. I noticed that they cheered up their felings.Later, I continiued with the  presentation in which they had  to  go to the board and  write down  any word related to the topics   I wrote  on the  board. I made two groups  and the group who had more words well written  won. After; I made i review of the grammar explantion .Then , I asked the students to perfom some tasks in order to reinforced their knowledge. When I finished  my class, the students said" thank you"; also, they said that they liked the class and all the activities .I noticed that they liked to be practicing English  with TPR  activities that helped them to pay more  attention.I felt satisfied , however, when I received my feedback , I was kind of down  eventough  the teacher told me that everything was ok, and she  said  that  I had to be careful with the pronunciation of some words, so she  taught me how to do it , I liked how she helped me to improve  my pronunciation.

Third period

In this third period , I started  my teaching practice  during the mornings. The  first topic to develop was Subject and object questions. My curiosity awakens when  I realized that the lesson plan  was made by me.I  was kind of nervous because I did nto know if  the methodology was going to work I started the class with a welcome; then I continued with the warm-up in which i had to bring a ball with stripes of paper stuck on in; those papers contained questions that the students were supposed to answer as soon as they catch the  ball. The procedure of the warm-up said that the teacher had to throw the ball to any of the students, then the students had to catch it and pick up a stripe of paper and answer the question it had;  after, the student had to gave back the ball to the teacher. I followed the procedure as i planned it;however, during the development  of the warm- up, i noticed that  this was kind of boring, but i  finished it.Later, i  made the presentation of the topic;then with the grammar explantion, at the end with the exercises.

In the feed back that my tutor gave me, she said that  the warm-up was ok, but that it could had been better if the students pass the ball among them, and not from the teacher to them, with this suggestion,  I  comfirmed  my  feelings towards the perception i had from the very biginning.

Teaching Practicum II / 2nd period

Mission Accomplished.

Well at least today was the last practice of the period. What was good  and bad today?

The good part is that dealing with difficult situations challenge me  to think things over before  acting, that is, to be careful when correcting student´s mistakes in the appropriate time  and  with the appropriate tone of voice. Also, that i never have to  be quick to  give a bad grade to a student just because  there is a lack of communication. I learned that a teacher has to provide rapport in order to make students participate and help them to go ahead  and achieve their goals. You can have a lot of knowledge    in teaching, but it is not enough; also  you have to treat others as you wished to be treated.

On the other hand, bad things , I made some mistakes in pronunciation. I had problems in controlling time  in the activities, etc. However, I know that i gained more teaching experience.

Teaching Practicum II / 2nd period

3rd practice

To teach a difficult topic  it is better to use simple exercises.
Good students want to participate and answer the questions from the very first time, but when the topic is  new and they don´t master it, their anxiety and fear increase. The first class with phrasal verbs was difficult because they were afraid  of the  complexity of the topic, so I tried to minimize their fear by telling them that practice will help them a  lot.In the third teaching practice I had to make a review  of  phrasal verbs, but this time  I wanted  to motivate them by using  simple  strategies like the use of  bingo games , flash cards  showing the vocabulary ,some strips of paper with the vocabulary to make a matching exercise and the use of  pictures of  a  tale named Goldilocks.I realized that they got more acquainted  with the topic.I think that once they  feel familiar  with the topic and after some practice, it would be suitable to go deepen  with more complex exercises.
On the other hand,  another thing  that I noticed was that the bingo game took a lot of time , so I had to be aware  of it  in order to make things even better.

Teaching Practicum II / 2nd period

2nd Teaching Practice

To provide rapport  to students   and to  have a good  communication with them are  some of the most important teaching strategies to make learning easy and not stressful.

In this second practice I had to start  teaching phrasal verbs, at the beginning of the class everything was OK because the warm-up made them  feel relaxed and they  refreshed their English knowledge. However,  their moods changed a little bit  when they read the topic on the board; when they saw it, they scared and told me that Phrasal verbs are difficult to manage; besides, I noticed that  their fear was because there was new vocabulary that they didn´t know, so  my response was to tell them  that they didn´t have to worry, and that while they practice the topic, they will master the it.Also,  I let them know that it is normal  to panic when there are new challenges  ahead,  and that they had to overcome them by  studying and giving  one step at a time.

To  reduce their fear i had already prepared a matching exercise in which they had to match the phrasal verbs with the right meaning. I asked some of them to go to the front and match; with this exercise  i noticed that they were  stressed  because they  wanted to give the  right answers  in their first try. I  noticed that they stood in front of the board and were thinking  twice to match. As part of the development of the  exercise , I corrected the mistakes.
After, the teaching,  some of them thanked me for the new vocabulary to enhance their knowledge.

Teaching Practicum II / 2nd period

First Practice of the 2nd period

Sometimes experience in teaching  is not enough when some friends  are going to be your students in the teaching practicum.

My First teaching practice of the second period was strange for me because  I  realized that  some firends  of mine were going to be  my students in the  teaching practicum. At the very beginning I thought that  everything was going to be fine because  I felt confident  to  make the practice with my friends, but as soon as I was infront  of them , I started to think that  they were not going to  feel confortable to participate  due to I was  their friend, so I started to shake and felt nervous .
The warm-up helped us to get in touch with the  English class; later, I  made a grammar review of the topic they had started to study, the  topic was the indirect speach; with the grammar review I realized that  my fear  was just  in my mind and that they felt eager to participate because they volunteered themselves to participate.
At the end of the class i felt better and thought that next time   the teaching practice  will   be fine.
When  I had the  feedback  with  my tutor, I let her know  what happened  to me when  I started in order  to  allowed her to  give me some recomendations for next time. Her recomendations  encouraged me to feel more confortable.
