Teaching Practicum II / 2nd period

3rd practice

To teach a difficult topic  it is better to use simple exercises.
Good students want to participate and answer the questions from the very first time, but when the topic is  new and they don´t master it, their anxiety and fear increase. The first class with phrasal verbs was difficult because they were afraid  of the  complexity of the topic, so I tried to minimize their fear by telling them that practice will help them a  lot.In the third teaching practice I had to make a review  of  phrasal verbs, but this time  I wanted  to motivate them by using  simple  strategies like the use of  bingo games , flash cards  showing the vocabulary ,some strips of paper with the vocabulary to make a matching exercise and the use of  pictures of  a  tale named Goldilocks.I realized that they got more acquainted  with the topic.I think that once they  feel familiar  with the topic and after some practice, it would be suitable to go deepen  with more complex exercises.
On the other hand,  another thing  that I noticed was that the bingo game took a lot of time , so I had to be aware  of it  in order to make things even better.

  1. That´s nice. If we prepare a variety of activities, it will be easy to help our students with the difficult topics. Also, we need more patience since we are teachers and we have to deal with those situations.

  2. Bingo is a nice game, but as you said it takes some time to play it. It is nice that you prepare a variety of activities for your students. It is true that the practice is an important part of learning, so we have to prepare the best activities for our students.
